Our poll for last week was asking whether ITV were right to axe long-running police drama The Bill. The veteran series, which has been on-air for 27 years, bowed out on Tuesday evening with over 4 million viewers. It’s cancellation was announced earlier this year following a revamp last year to turn The Bill into a gritty, post-watershed series which resulted in 3 million viewers turning off. So despite the loss in ratings, which was not The Bill’s fault, were ITV right to axe the series? Read on to find out how the vote turned out.
A whopping 93.7% of you voted NO! That’s right 93% of our readers thought ITV were WRONG to axe The Bill. It isn’t just our readers who think ITV was wrong to cancel the series with several high-profile industry insiders also blasting the decision. Some of you did agree with the cancellation but only 5.2% of you while 1.1% of you were unsure. So ITV, are you paying attention cause it seems our readers aren’t too happy about the cancellation.
