Last year's winner Joe McElderryThe biggest talent contest in the country returns tonight as the latest round of hopefuls audition in front of the judges hoping to find the success enjoyed by JLS, Alexandra Burke, Leona Lewis and Joe McElderry. However, its not just the talented that will be auditioning in front of the judges tonight but also the deluded as viewers/fans know only too well. Yes for every talented Olly Murs out there sadly there are five or six not-so-talented people who seem to think they have amazing singing voices!

Last year’s competition certainly proved memorable and perhaps not always for the right reasons! There was Danni Minogues comments regarding contest Danyl Johnson which promoted complaints from viewers – though we didn’t see what was wrong with them. Then there was Jedward – Edward and John Grimes. They may have been entertaining but were they talented? That question divided fans and the Judges but it was Simon Cowell’s decision to save Jedward over Welsh singer Lucie Jones that promoted thousands of complaints and Twitter to go into melt down! The drama only adds to the fun of the X Factor though and last years competition was won by Joe McElderry who beat Stacey Solomon and Olly Murs to the title – sadly though due to a Facebook campaign the Geordie didn’t make it to Number 1 for Christmas but he did get there in the end.

So what can we expect from The X Factor this year? Will there be as much drama and twists/turns as last years competition? Well it will certainly be different as Danni Minogue is absent from the audition stages of the competition due to her pregnancy and instead Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole are joined by a series of guest judges for the various auditions. Geri Halliwell joins the judges in Glasgow while former Neighbours actress Natalie Imbrugila is on the panel in Birmingham – tabloids claimed hopefuls taunted the singer with chants of “Who Are You”?. If this is true then it must have been the chavs segment of the auditionees because who hasn’t heard Torn? Other guest judges include Pixie Lott, Katy Perry and Nicole Scherzinger.
