The Sarah Jane Adventures: Season 5 Ratings Review

Elisabeth Sladen and co-starsA ratings round-up for the fifth and final series of CBBC’s The Sarah Jane Adventures.

The fifth and final series of The Sarah Jane Adventures, starring the late Elisabeth Sladen, aired on the CBBC Channel in October. It compromised of the three stories filmed last year prior to the death of Sladen in April of this year – a further three stories were due to be filmed but following the actress’ death they were cancelled by the BBC.

The first story of season 5, Sky, introduced new cast member Sinead Michael as Sarah Jane’s new adopted daughter. The episode was written by Phil Ford and directed by Ashley Way airing on 3rd and 4th October. The first part was seen by 534,000 viewers while the second part dipped slightly to 532,000 viewers. The second story was The Curse of Clyde Langer, again written by Phil Ford and Directed by Ashley Way. It aired on the CBBC Channel on the 10th and 11th October with 793,000 viewers for part one and 730,000 viewers for part two.

The final story was The Man Who Never Was which was written by Gareth Roberts and Directed by Joss Agnew. It aired on the 17th and 18th October with part one attracting 711,000 viewers and part two pulling in 603,000 viewers. A recent poll held by the CBBC Channel to find the Ultimate Sarah Jane Adventure was won by The Man That Never Was.
