The Dawn of a new Day: Daybreak
Today ITV launches its much-hyped replacement for GMTV; Daybreak. The brand new breakfast television programme is being fronted by Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles who have both defected from The One Show, and the BBC, to present the re-launched breakfast slot on ITV. On Friday it was out with the old as GMTV broadcast for the final time and today it’s in with the new as the first edition of Daybreak airs.

It’s certainly the dawn of a new era for ITV as it ditches the once popular GMTV – which has been on-air since the early 1990s – in favour of the new Daybreak. ITV are pinning its hopes on the new series being a success and hopes that the presence of Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley will draw in the viewers. But the big question is will Daybreak be able to re-capture GMTV’s lost audience and take on BBC Breakfast?
