Vinyl still proves popular with Music Fans

In a recent poll by TeamRock.com to celebrate the imminent national Record Store Day on 19th April, it has revealed that almost half (47%) of the music fans surveyed had bought something from an Independent Record Shop in the last month, showing that music fans still love the experience of being in a record shop and being amongst other music enthusiasts.

The survey which was conducted amongst TeamRock.com’s Facebook audience of Classic Rock and Metal Hammer fans also revealed that a quarter of the music fans polled had bought an album on vinyl from an Independent Record Shop in the last month. It also showed that the 35-44 year age group had the highest vinyl purchases in the last month.

Vinyl also surprisingly topped the poll for the favourite format of music based on the quality of the listening experience. It was the over 35 year age groups who were the most popular, however at the other end of the spectrum, 47% of under 18s said vinyl was also their preferred choice based on this criteria.

“This is a fascinating result. While there’s little doubting that the landscape of the music industry has radically changed, it’s clear that one thing that hasn’t changed is the passion that fans feel for the music they love.” – Editor in Chief, TeamRock, Alexander Milas
