BBC Sport has seen over 300 complaints over ‘unprofessional’ and ‘poor’ commentary at the Winter Olympics.
The corporation received the most complaints for the quality of their commentary for the snowboarding slopestyle final. There were over 50 complaints made about the overall standard of the coverage of the games in general.
Jenny Jones became the first Great Britain to win an Olympic medal in the Winter games and her bronze gong proved too much for the commentators, Aimee Fuller, Tim Warwood and Ed Leigh as they began to cry.
Viewers also disapproved of the trio cheering when rival competitors fell during the proceedings, describing it as unprofessional. The commentary was also mocked on social media for its below standard tone and content.
This was a truly historic occasion for Team GB and the commentary team were understandably very excited.
However we acknowledge that on occasion this excitement got the better of them and this is something that we will work on for future events. – BBC spokesperson
The coverage gained over three million viewers.
