Majority of ATV Today readers think Corrie has gone down hill

{jcomments on}For just over a week we’ve been asking ATV Today readers whether they think ITV soap Coronation Street has gone down hill recently. With voting now over it seems as though our readers agree with recent press stories criticising the Manchester based soap.

Coronation Street has had a lot of bad publicity lately but cast members such as Ben Price and William Roache have come out fighting in the soap’s corner – defending Corrie against accusations of bad ratings, bad plots, dodgy accents and too many gay characters (well that’s only if you read the Daily Mail). However, some viewers of Corrie have also been vocal in their criticisms of late – pointing too long and tedious storylines such as the John Stape saga as to how the soap has lost its way.

So ATV Today launched a poll asking our readers if they thought that Coronation Street had indeed gone down hill. A staggering 96.% of those who voted thought the soap had indeed gone down-hill. Only 3.3% of those who voted thought the soap hadn’t lost its way at all.
