09:57: The answer to the question earlier this morning : WOODCOCK. If you got that right, and you were on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, you would have won £1million. So well done. Although as this is the internet i’m guessing many used Google!
That is that for this morning. I will be back tomorrow from 7.00am, hopefully more free flowing where we will have a selection of web picks, 9pm Prime Time, Million Pound Question, Soap Picture Of The Day and all the morning news wrapped up. Have a good day!
09:50: Soap Picture Of The Day : Coronation Street (7.30pm/8.30pm tonight on ITV1)
09:42: “Very honoured although I’ll let you in on a secret, I spent a lot of time flat on my back in the hospital set.” Stefan Dennis speaking to ATV Today, full interview later this week. Have you managed to answer our Million Pound Question? (just for fun)
09:30: Apologies. What only can be described as a technical glitch. The Kardashians promoting their Osbourne style reality show Lorraine. Apparently they are really big in America, like REALLY big.
09:00: Fruity Before Suity
Probably a little late now as if you are heading out the door you have your suit on, or whatever your uniform for maybe, for the purpose of this segment, it’s a SUIT!
Your fruit for today

Ø An advisory panel will report to Culture Secy. Jeremy Hunt about local news services today
Ø With the Pope arriving in the UK later this week, news programmes focus on the Pope’s visit, with special programmes looking at the good and bad points of the Pope and his visit.
08:35: Actor Jimi Misty is due on BBC Breakfast to discuss taking up Strictly Come Dancing soon. Reports of a royal wedding in 2012 caught the attention of US breakfast shows. NBC Today Show reported on the rumours from NOTW. Now don’t quote me, but i don’t recall it being mentioned on the news i watched here yesterday.
08:30: Newswrap : Watch the latest episode from ATV Today by clicking play. Video is in the right hand menu >>
08:25: Barbara Windsor on ITV1’s Daybreak. After seeing her ending, with the special Peggy’s Theme, saying that she has not had a weep yet at it. We get to see her first ever appearance on EastEnders. Her chest looks very red, similar to that of Kate Garraway last Monday i note.
“I had to learn to keep it down…not to giggle…or do the walk”, Barbara on starting EastEnders all those years ago. “BBC have been absolutely fantastic to me”.
Laughs of the Bingo advert you might have seen her appear.
08:20: 9pm Prime Time
BBC One : Who Do You Think You Are?
Actor Alan Cumming delves into his history.
BBC Two: Dragon’s Den
You’re In, I’m Out!
ITV 1: Bouquet of Barbed Wire
Tense drama continues as Peter becomes obsessed with Gavin.
Channel 4: My Family’s Crazy Gap Year
Jason Lawrence dreamed of sailing around the world, so he does
Channel 5: Swordfish
Who needs Sky Movies when you have Channel 5!
08:10: Kat and Alfie’s return to EastEnders, watch the trailer here.
Coming up this Friday ATV Today will have an interview with Neighbours legend Stefan Dennis, who plays bad boy Paul Robinson!
08:06: A study out in Vancouver, Canada, found that 13% of children who watched TV more 2 or more hours a day reported high levels of sadness. Looks like we are not the only country to have silly studies.
Coming up on ITV’s Daybreak, Barbara Windsor on her exit from EastEnders. We will cover what she says as it happens.
08:00: Good morning, it’s 8.00am and you are reading The Morning Wire!
Word on the web this morning:
Local news debate set to continue today as an interim report is delivered to culture secretary Jeremy Hunt by an advisory panel examining ways to establish a new generation of local TV services. Click here to read more from the MG.
07:55: Nice shot of all the crew on ITV’s Daybreak as they show off a flying gadget flying straight into a camera!
07:50: Find out the answer to that at the end of the live blog at 10am. Back to the TV now and Daybreak’s “Something cool…before School”. Bless them, they seem to be trying so hard to be different from their predecessors. Ratings show that viewers have risen slightly, but not the big change that they wanted. Still early days yet!
07:45: Now, i said earlier this would be the time for the million dollar question. It’s actually the million pound question, a question that could win you £1millon, if you were playing Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. So taken straight from the book, here is your Million Pound Question….
Which bird has a display flight called “roding”?
07:42: Alex Reid, last Celeb BB winner and KP’s other half is to present UK’s Strongest Man on Bravo later this year. Hmm….
07:38: Lady Gaga was the big winner at last nights MTV’s Video Music Awards, picking up gongs for Best Female Video and Best Dance Video among others.
07:30: Could Mr.Bean return to ITV? Word on the web, from the Daily Mail
07:25: Ultimate Big Brother winner Brian Dowling presented Alexandra Burke with a cake on stage at the weekend. She shot straight to number 1 yesterday with her summery theme song “Start Without You”. On the subject of Big Brother, not even 48 hours after it had finished, a Sunday paper reported that Channel 4 want to being back Celebrity Big Brother. Very unlikely that it would be back on Channel 4.
Coming up at 7:45, the million dollar question. Intrigued? Find out more later.
07:19: Have you voted in our weekly poll yet? Cast your vote before you head out for the day…
Sky News also beginning their reporting on the Pope’s visit, with a more in-depth report from Colin Brazier.
07:15: Well The Sun newspaper are saying that Simon Cowell has signed a new deal worth £20million to keep him at ITV until 2013. We shall see…
Returning to TV tonight is the third series of The Inbetweeners at 10pm on E4 tonight!
07:10: Surprised last night that 7 minutes into Sky News at 11 that they were leading with Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams reuniting on stage, although focus on what the concert was for was there as well. The duo seems to have helped press coverage of the concert on what would have been a lacklustre reception in my opinion.
Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has apparently let slip that the X Factor will not be back in 2011 due to Simon committing to the US version. Not gospel, but it is seeming more likely that it will take a break and come back in 2012.
As i mentioned earlier, the first Pope news on Daybreak as i speak.
07:05: A big week for the media as the Pope visits the UK on Thursday with ITV News sending out Julie Etchingham to Rome ahead of his visit. Sky News have been running concert like promos and the BBC will also be going all out. Activist Peter Tatchell’s documentary on the Pope airs tonight on Channel 4. It would seem the Pope is going to be dominating for weeks to come.
The main news this morning that the breakfast shows are covering:
Ø It’s the trade union conference and they are to vote on joint industrial action due to coalition spending cuts
07:00: A very good morning and welcome to The Morning Wire. By the time we end at 10.00am you should have a clearer picture of what The Morning Wire is…i hope.
