We visited a concentration camp about an hour from our Hostel. The holocaust is one of those things you just can’t understand at all but being in an actual camp, where the murders were carried out, just made the whole thing even worse.

It’s even more horrifying and confusing up close as you just can’t understand how anyone can systematically murder someonebecause they are Jewish or Romany ect.
Walking round the camp took about three hours as it was a very large camp. We had an audio guide to help us around which was actually very importative and had the option of finding out more information about eah location, suh as eye witness reports ect, should we wish to hear them.
It was a very humbling experience and also quite upsetting walking around the camp and being at a place you had only ever read about in history books before.
Getting back into Berlin was a little difficult as there was a problem with the train and as I don’t speak the language – all the announcements were in German – we didn’t really know what was going on. Now I can just about get about reading German but listening to it is another matter and so we sat on the train in ignorance as to what was going on until we saw everyone swap trains so we followed suit.
In the evening we took a party bus tour of Berlin which had a bar and disco on-board, playing rock music and other requested music. The tour was awesome as we drove around Berlin in a bendy bus visiting more sights around the city! We stopped outside another segment of the wall and one of our fellow passengers tried to climb the wall.
Sadly I didn’t get my camera out in time to get a photo!
