Your favourite Vampire series revealed!

Two weeks ago we asked you to vote for which Vampire series was your favourite with contenders from both the past (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ultaviolet) to the present (True Blood, The Vampire Diaries) and we even allowed you to vote for the Twilight films too. Now we can reveal which of the candidates won your won!

Two weeks ago we asked you to vote for which Vampire series was your favourite with contenders from both the past (Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Ultaviolet) to the present (True Blood, The Vampire Diaries) and we even allowed you to vote for the Twilight films too. Due to the Bank Holiday Weekend we allowed the poll to stay open for an extra week to let everyone cast their vote but now the time has come to reveal the winner.

It was HBO’s True Blood which had the most votes when we closed our poll but it was a very close run thing. We always expected Alan Ball’s superb vampire series to do well but it had tough competition from an unlikely source – The Lair. At one point the trashy gay vampire series was ahead with a considerable margin but obviously there must be a few True Blood fans amongst you because you quickly sorted that out and in the end the HBO ended up with 28% of the vote. As we said The Lair gave True Blood a good run for its money in a surprising way and it ended up in second place with 25.7% of the vote.

Proving that she can still conduct a good fight – although not win – was Buffy the Vampire Slayer who had 14.1% of the vote which isn’t bad when you consider our top two shows are still on air and Buffy ended several years ago – and it’s several places above spin-off series Angel. In fourth place is The CW’s hit series The Vampire Diaries which had 12.5% of the vote while former Sky One series Hex had 7.3% of the vote.

In sixth place was poor old Angel who mustered just 6.1% of the vote which, as stated already, put him behind his girlfriend Buffy. The Twilight films didn’t score very well with you – we thought we would get a lot of teenage girls rushing on to make sure the films won. This didn’t happen though because Twilight got 3.6% of the vote while ‘Other’ had 1.1%, Ultaviolet 0.9% and in the last place was seemingly forgotten CBS series Moonlight with 0.7%.
