Football icon Thierry Henry announced his retirement from the beautiful game Tuesday and that he’ll be taking up a new role at Sky Sports in the new year.

As a football expert, Henry will join ex-footballers such as Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Jamie Redknapp and Graeme Souness. Henry’s career in football saw him lift the World Cup in 1998 for France, several European trophies and the accolade of greatest goal-scorer in Arsenal Football Club’s history.

“I played for some of the best teams in football and now I’m joining what I think is the best team in television. I’m looking forward to joining the guys and helping to provide Sky Sports viewers with the best possible analysis. I can’t wait.” – Thierry Henry

Barney Francis, Sky Sports Managing Director, says that Henry’s appointment as an expert will take Sky Sports’ coverage to the next level. Thierry Henry will also become a Sky Ambassador, working with the Sky Academy and the Sky Sports Living for Sport, which helps young people build confidence and gain life skills to achieve their dreams.
