EyeSpy: Sky at 25

Sky Television - 1989 logoToday marks two and a half decades of Sky broadcasting in the UK. Time flies when you’re having televisual fun doesn’t it?

So lets go back to February 5th 1989 which Sky described as “a television revolution” and “the dawn of television’s new age.” The arrival of Sky was deemed the biggest change to commercial television since the launch of ITV in 1955.

Originally four networks hit the air: Sky Channel (re-banded soon afterwards as Sky One), Sky News, EuroSport and Sky Movies. Two further were promised as launching soon: Sky Arts and The Disney Channel. Today of course Sky offers several channels of its own, and 100s of others.
