Edwards to join Coulthard for 2012 BBC F1 Commentary

Ben Edwards and other F1 Journalists have announced via Twitter that he will partner David Coulthard in the commentary box for F1 2012 on the BBC.

Ben on Twitter said: “So, it looks as though it’s really happening. I will be the BBC F1 commentator in 2012 and I can’t wait! It took a while for things to be sorted, and thanks to ITV for being so understanding. Really looking forward to working with the crew.”

The BBC were looking for a new main commentator (among other personnel) after the new joint deal with SKY where they lost 10 of their live races. It looks as though Edwards will be alongside David Coulthard in the commentary box after the former F1 driver announced he was staying. However he still has a contract with the BBC, and was unlikely to leave.

It is also unclear to whether the BBC may share their commentary on TV and radio as a cost cutting measure. It is equally unknown, as yet, if Ben will carry on his British Touring Car Championship commentaries for ITV.
