Weekly Poll: Has Corrie Gone Down Hill?

Weekly Poll: Has Corrie Gone Down Hill?

Michelle Collins{jcomments on}Much has been made in the tabloids recently about a supposed drop in ratings for Coronation Street with the veteran ITV soap in “crisis” as fans criticise long, tedious storylines, Brian Sewell slams it for having too many gay characters and critics attack Michelle Collins’ northern accent. This week we’re asking if Coronation Street really has gone down hill or whether the press are making a mountain out of a mole hill?

There will always be some viewers who feel the soap – which ever it may be – was better yesterday when it wasn’t all stunts, sex and shouting matches. That’s probably a description that some viewers could apply equally to Corrie, EastEnders or Emmerdale. Soaps change naturally over time to reflect the demands – or what they think are the demands – of the audience. Some viewers will always be left behind in such changes but the tricky bit is making sure that the majority of viewers aren’t left behind.

So Coronation Street may very well be different to what it was last year or even ten years ago – but that doesn’t necessarily mean the quality has changed. That is what we are asking you this week – has Corrie gone down-hill or are the tabloid stories all smoke and no fire? This is your chance to have your say.

Voting is simple. Our poll is now located on the left-side of our site. Select your choice and click vote – you’ll then be re-directed to the results page where you’ll be able to see how the poll is progressing.
