The Sarah Jane Adventures: Ratings Review

The Sarah Jane AdventuresThe fourth season of The Sarah Jane Adventures recently concluded its run on the CBBC Channel/BBC One and the final ratings for each episode of the series have now been released. So here they are all in one place.

Elisabeth SladenThe fourth season of The Sarah Jane Adventures opened with The Nightmare Man which served to write out Luke Smith (Tommy Knight) as a regular part of the cast. He appeared throughout the rest of the series in little more than cameo appearances until the final episode of the season. The first part of The Nightmare Man on CBBC was seen by 590,000 viewers while the BBC Two had 280,000 viewers giving a combined total of 870,000 viewers. The second and concluding part was seen by 670,000 viewers on the CBBC Channel while the BBC Two repeat had 380,000 viewers giving a combined total of just over 1 million viewers.

 

BBCThe Vault of Secrets, the second story, had 730,000 viewers for its CBBC airing while the BBC One repeat had 430,000 viewers giving a combined total of 1.16 million viewers. The second and concluding part had 610,000 viewers on the CBBC Channel with the BBC One repeat adding a further 490,000 viewers giving a combined total of 1.10 million. The third story was perhaps the “big event” of the fourth season with Matt Smith crossing over as The Doctor while Katy Manning reprised her role of Jo Grant, now Jo Jones, from the original series of Doctor Who. The Death of the Doctor also guest-starred Laila Rouass as the corrupt UNIT officer, Colonel Karim. The opening episode on the CBBC Channel surged to 920,000 viewers while the BBC One repeat pulled in 480,000 viewers. That gives the first part a combined audience of 1.40 million viewers. Meanwhile the second part had 960,000 viewers on the CBBC Channel and 470,000 viewers for the BBC One repeat giving a combined total of 1.43 million viewers.

 

The Empty Planet, the fourth story, had 999,000 viewers for its CBBC airing while the BBC One repeat had 510,000 viewers giving a combined audience of 1.5 million viewers. The second part had 810,000 viewers for its CBBC broadcast and 580,000 viewers for the BBC One repeat giving a combined audience of 1.39 million viewers. Lost in Time, the penultimate story of the season, started with 980,000 viewers on the CBBC Channel and 590,000 viewers on BBC One; a combined audience of 1.57 million viewers. The second part had 680,000 viewers on the CBBC Channel and 540,000 viewers for the BBC One repeat; a combined total of 1.22 million viewers.

 

bbcThe season finale, Goodbye Sarah Jane Smith, guest-starred Julie Graham and had 820,000 viewers for the CBBC Channel airing and 520,000 viewers for the BBC One repeat; a combined audience of 1.34 million viewers. Part two had 810,000 viewers for the CBBC broadcast and 580,000 viewers for the BBC One repeat; a combined audience of 1.39 million viewers.
