Australian-born Animator and director Bob Godfrey has died aged 91. He is best known for his television animations including Roobarb and Henry’s Cat.
He started his career as a graphic artist, moving on to film graphic production and later commercials for ITV. In 1964 he founded his own production company, Bob Godfrey Films, in order to devise and create his own unique production ideas. Successes included his 1975 Oscar-winning biography of Isambard Kingdom Brunel in Great. He also went from behind the scenes to presenter for the BBC with The Do It Yourself Film Animation Show in 1974.
His best known work however will be the television cartoon series, Roobarb in 1974, Roobarb and Custard of 1975 and the 1980s series Henry’s Cat.
