The Hutch reopens in Hollyoaks

The Hutch is back in business…

As Hollyoaks approaches its 30th year Tony Hutchinson is back on top as he reopens his pride and joy, the famous village eatery The Hutch with best pal Ste and son Lucas in the kitchen.

Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) proudly opens the doors to his new version of the restaurant, back in its old location having previously closed its doors becoming the home of the McQueen family. And while they moved into the old Hutch location Tony moved over to become the local landlord of the village pub, The Dog In the Pond and turned his hand at being a counsellor, but now Tony is happy to be back in his chef’s uniform.

Fans of the show will have a sense of nostalgia as we see Tony back working beside Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) in the kitchen. Worried he might not be ready to delve back into working life, Ste is persuaded by his close friend to put back on his apron and join him when Tony is left without a chef last minute.

The years have seen some changes however, with the new era of The Hutch seeing Ste’s son Lucas (Oscar Curtis) joining his dad in the kitchen and Tony’s new girlfriend Marie (Rita Simons) by his side in the business. Staying up to date the restaurant has a new chic, modern look but no doubt the menu will see some old favourites such as Tony’s signature dish prawn linguine.

Kieron Richardson who plays Ste Hay:

“For me Tony in his chef’s clobber running around The Hutch while chaos ensues around him is a big part of Hollyoaks! So the fact it’s back and with a chic new look, makes me very happy.

“Plus, just like it’s always been Ste is right beside him as his surrogate son slash bestie slash protégé…. and this time around Ste has brought his son Lucas on board. Making the new era Hutch almost generational…. I’m sure we can get Dee Dee or Ro waiting tables and really make it a family affair… I hope the audience love the nostalgia of the restaurant as much as we have loved having it back…”

The episode seeing the grand re-opening will stream on Monday 3rd February on Channel 4 Streaming.
