Coronation Street inferno for Platt family home

Things are about to hot up on Coronation Street as explosive pictures released by ITV show…

As we all knew from filming reports last year a huge blaze will rip through the Platts house, with ITV tonight confirming this inferno will be broadcast next week, destroying not only bricks and mortar but also the lives of David and Shona’s family and those close to them.

And when the fire is proven to be arson some of the street’s best-known residents start to feel the heat and find themselves forced to try and convince the police of their innocence. Who is the mysterious hooded figure viewers will see pushing a petrol-soaked rag through the letterbox of number 8?

With no sign of Toyah or the kids it becomes evident that there may be people trapped inside. As Nick, Shona and Max head into the inferno, will they all make it out alive as a huge explosion rocks the street?

“It is of course also a good way to say farewell to the last remanets of matriarch of the family Gail who departed for a villa in the south of France back in December, so will herald in a new era and new look for the house.” – TV Critic Vivian Summers

With Gail (Helen Worth) now gone from number 8 the fire will see her influence on the home fried to dust / ITV

The action starts on Monday February the 3rd, on ITV1 and STV, with everyone gathering at the Bistro for Sarah’s birthday. Bored at the adult party Hope, Ruby, Lily and Sam sneak into number 8 and start to live stream a seance. Spotting the live stream and seeing matches on the video, Toyah races over to the house and throws the kids out.

Meanwhile Abi is on the warpath having realised Toyah shopped her to social services and seeing her at number 8 heads inside to confront her. Caught up in a PTSD episode, she lashes out at Toyah knocking her unconscious before fleeing the house. Did she come back and start the fire to cover up the attack on Toyah?

Also creeping round the cobbles is a drunken Leanne, feeling lonely and angry at the world. Is she responsible for devastating inferno?

Or could David be to blame for the blaze? His feud with gang lord Harvey has ramped up a gear in recent weeks, with Shona already having been kidnapped as a warning. Is Harvey’s gang behind the arson or has David gone to extreme lengths to get the money from the house insurance to repay Harvey the money he stole?

Coronation Street, ITV1 and STV at 8pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday and on ITVX from 7am
