Mel Giedroyc gives ITV her best bite as ‘Teeth’

The Pictionary host was the latest to take it off…

On tonight’s offering of ITV1 and STV’s The Masked Singer UK, the remaining eight characters all took to the stage for the first time this series – Dressed Crab, Pufferfish, Kingfisher, Bush, Snail, Teeth, Bear and Wolf as the celebrity team of detectives, Maya Jama, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan and host Joel Dommett tried to guess who was masquerading behind the masks.

In the episode it was Teeth who was asked to ‘take it off’ when she was unmasked as actress, comedian, presenter Mel Giedroyc.

Speaking about her time on the show, Mel said, “I’ll take Su Pollard! It’s so nice to see you guys. I love these teeth so much! I was very pleased with Alex Scott. Such a fun show, it’s impossible not to have fun on this show!”

Speaking on The After Mask, hosted by Harriet Rose, on-demand, social and digital channels including ITVX and YouTube: The Masked Singer UK Mel spoke of her covered up toothy experience.

“I feel really elated actually. I blooming loved it. I’m sad because my next song was Pointer Sisters, ‘Automatic’ done as Marlene Dietrich. That would have been fun.” Mel noted, adding, “…if you told me you’re going to have a chance to sing the Neighbours theme tune dressed as an enormous pair of wind up teeth with pink tights and big pink flapping feet, I would say I could stop my career now. For me that is the pinnacle!”

On whether she told anyone about her appearance Giedroyc said, “My husband. He took it really seriously. The level of training he took me through at home!” And on finally being unmasked, “I just feel it’s a win-win. I didn’t think I’d get this far, I think I’ve got over half way which is great!  It’s been so fun.”

The Masked Singer, Saturdays at 7pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
