ITV axes Drama Queens after one series

ITV has axed Drama Queens after just one series.

The series, which aired on ITVBe, followed several soap stars in their everyday lives.

The Sun reports that the show has been axed due to low ratings and high production costs, compounded by the cast’s other filming obligations.

A source told the paper:

“Luring the talent to open up about their personal lives was costly and they all had busy filming schedules for their various acting jobs and family commitments.”

A spokesperson for ITV said: “There are no current plans for a second series of Drama Queens but the first series is available for viewers to enjoy on ITVX, and we wouldn’t rule out revisiting the show in the future.”

Drama Queens featured well-known faces from Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, and EastEnders, including Lucy Fallon, Jamelia, Ellie Leach, Laura Norton, Jorgie Porter, Roxy Shahidi, Rita Simons, Brooke Vincent, and Amy Walsh.

Its one and only series aired between 10 April and 29 May this year.
