ITV say Good Morning Britain on Christmas Day

Christmas Day highlights from Good Morning Britain…

Susanna Reid, Ed Balls and Kate Garraway are set to bring a very special Christmas Day show packed full of music, festive fun, gifts and special guests, sure to bring cheer to the nation’s screens later this morning in a pre-recorded Christmas special from 7am on ITV1, STV, STV Player and ITVX.

With music from Michael Ball and Alfie Boeas well as a show stopping performance from the cast of The Lion King, GMB will be reuniting Pride of Britain best friends Jacob Newson and Florrie Bark live on air before crowning the winner of this year’s 1 Million Minutes Len Goodman award.

In 2024, Good Morning Britain has been at the forefront of keeping viewers informed and engaged when it matters most and the special programme will look back at how over the past year, GMB has delivered live, on-the-ground coverage of pivotal moments such as the UK and US elections; as well as securing headline-making interviews with some of the biggest names in politics, entertainment and beyond.

In a segment shining a spotlight on the work of carers, Kate Garraway will open up about how she is preparing to spend her first Christmas without Derek: “It’s very raw Susanna to be honest. It’s very raw. I mean this time last year, Derek was still alive – very sick. We thought it was the toughest Christmas because weirdly in 2020 we had a lot of hope that he was coming out… I think that I am [still] in the early stages of grief… The pain and the feeling is still there.”

In a truly heartwarming moment, Pride of Britain winners Jacob and Florrie are reunited live on air as they share a big Christmas hug and special gifts for the presenters. Updating viewers on her condition, 8 year-old Florrie, who has become a TikTok sensation said: “I did have cancer and it’s gone but I’ve got really bad lungs because of all the medicines and stuff. The medicine had to get rid of lots of stuff. It had to get rid of the bad cells but it got rid of some of the good ones [too] so now my lungs are bad, but I can still do lots of stuff.”

Sharing her advice for those going through similar situations, Florrie said: “You just need to smile and try and laugh, play with your family and just try and do everything that makes you happy.”

Also sharing his advice for those going through loss this Christmas is 10 year-old Jacob, who earlier this year was awarded the GMB Young Fundraiser of the Year award after raising over £160,000 for St Gemma’s Hospice, where his late mother was treated, said, “Losing someone who is related to you and really special to you is painful but the hard bit is moving on from it, taking all of it in and being brave for the future… You’ve got to have really good inspiration.”

With exclusive clips from Emmerdale and Call the Midwife Christmas specials, soap stars Ned Porteous and Tony Audenshaw tease a dramatic Christmas in the Dales whilst actress Jenny Agutter will explain how the double Christmas special made her ‘weep’.

And finally, before closing the show with their amazing sound, singing superstars Michael Ball and Alfie Boe will join Kate, Ed and Susanna to discuss going on tour together before teaming up with Kate and Ed where they will take each other on in the ultimate Good Morning Britain Christmas quiz – but who will come out on top?
