Federation of British Artists’ ‘Art For All’ auction opens to bids

Following the tremendous success of last year’s inaugural event, Mall Galleries, home of the Federation of British Artists, has announced the return of its ‘Art For All’ Auction…

The online fundraising auction offers small-scale figurative art at incredibly affordable prices. The auction is anonymous, meaning you have the chance to bid on leading, established figurative artists, securing work at a fraction of its normal cost.

Taking place from today (Monday 7th October) to Sunday 13th October 2024, coinciding with Frieze Week, all profits from ‘Art For All’ will go to the work and mission of the Federation of British Artists (FBA), a visual arts charity founded to empower figurative artists through a not-for-profit programme of exhibitions and events, prizes and awards.

This year, there will be 180 small works of art to bid on (all A4 and A5 in size) and a selection of sculptures, from a unique artist collective made up of the Federation of British Artists’ nine member societies, which include the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the New English Art Club, and the Royal Society of British Artists, among others. Participating artists this year include Adebanji Alade ROI, Linda Alexander ROI, Roger Dellar PS/RI/ROI, Teresa Lawler RI, Ian Rawling RI, Tania Rivilis and Martha Zmpounou RI, whose work will be available to buy from as little as £50. This is a rare chance for art collectors and enthusiasts to access work by the country’s finest figurative artists, that would typically sell for four to five times more in a gallery.

Clare O’Brien, CEO of the Federation of British Artists and Mall Galleries;

“The ‘Art For All’ Auction presents an incredible opportunity for collectors and art lovers to get their hands on some of the very best figurative art, at truly competitive prices. For a minimal investment, these small works, by renowned and emerging artists alike will bring warmth and soul into your home and, have the potential to appreciate in value over time.

“The ‘Art for All’ Auction aligns with our core mission at the Federation of British Artists – to democratise remarkable figurative art. We believe figurative art should be accessible to all, both through its price and by empowering our artists to make and exhibit their work. Every bid placed will help us to continue to support artists, and in that sense the auction will benefit both artists and buyers.”

Funds raised will enable the charity to host exhibitions, offer prizes, run not-for-profit workshops, and provide more opportunities for artists to showcase their work. One of the planned exhibitions, that will directly benefit from ‘Art For All’ profits, will feature new works by artists who have been awarded prizes by Mall Galleries over the past two years, encompassing both emerging and established talent.
