Quay Street Productions appoints Head of Drama

Quay Street Productions (part of ITV Studios), the Manchester-based production company founded by prolific and multi-award-winning producer Nicola Shindler, has appointed executive producer Richard Fee to the role of Head of Drama with immediate effect.

In addition to executive producing across a number of projects, this title expansion to include Head of Drama recognises Richard’s role within Quay Street Productions since he joined in 2021. Fee has worked with Quay Street Productions founder and producer Nicola Shindler for the past fifteen years on over 23 series for a variety of broadcasters and streaming services.

Richard Fee:

“I’m thrilled to be stepping into the role of Head of Drama at Quay Street Productions and look forward to making more great television with Nicola and our incredibly talented team.”

Together with Shindler, Fee has been a close collaborator with bestselling US novelist Harlan Coben, working as executive producer on hit dramas Fool Me Once, Stay Close, The Stranger and Safe for Netflix as well as the story producer on The Five for Sky. He has also worked closely with Danny Brocklehurst on these titles, as well as on ITV mini-series, No Return, starring Sheridan Smith, and with Mick Ford on a number of series, most recently After the Flood for ITV.

Men Up, Quay Street Productions for the BBC

In his role working as Head of Drama, Richard will continue to work closely with Nicola and Davina Earl (Head of Development and executive producer), as he further develops his slate of drama productions in addition to executive producing across multiple projects, including the upcoming Harlan Coben’s Missing You for Netflix, the team’s sixth collaboration with the streamer and novelist.

The series follows the global success of Fool Me Once, which contributed to Netflix’s record-breaking figures this year, reaching number six on Netflix’s top ten list of their most-popular shows of all time and becoming the global most-watched series of 2024 with a total of 107,500,000 views.

Nicola Shindler:

“Richard’s passion for storytelling and proven track record in the industry make him the perfect leader to further elevate our projects and add his unique perspective to help shape the future of our drama slate”

Richard Fee is currently working on new Harlan Coben thriller Lazarus for Amazon Prime Video starring Sam Claflin and Bill Nighy and has also executive produced mystery thriller After The Flood for ITV and fantasy epic Anansi Boys for Amazon Prime Video. Richard was the script executive on BAFTA-nominated ITV mini-series, Prey, starring John Simm, and has script edited series written by Mick Ford, Bill Gallagher, Sue Perkins and Tony Marchant.

Nolly, Quay Street Productions for ITV

Quay Street Productions continues to build on Shindler’s already impressive body of work as one of the UK’s leading and most decorated drama producers, with its slate focussing on both limited and returning series, putting writers’ voices at the centre to tell boundary-pushing, entertaining and thought-provoking stories.

Based in Manchester, Quay Street Productions puts the writers and talent at the centre of the production process. Welcoming voices from all different backgrounds, Quay Street Productions promotes a diversity of storytelling working with new and established writers. Russell T Davies drama Nolly for Quay Street Productions, starring Helena Bonham Carter as soap opera legend Noele “Nolly” Gordon, and Significant Other starring Katherine Parkinson and Youssef Kerkour, launched on ITVX and ITV in 2023.

Feature-length drama, Men Up starring Iwan Rheon aired on BBC One over Christmas 2023 and most recently After the Flood, written by Mick Ford and starring Sophie Rundle launched on ITV1 and ITVX in January 2024.
