In 59 days, from February to April 1991, Ward 4 at Grantham Hospital was struck by a series of unexplained medical emergencies. Four children died.

This is the story of what happened, and how, despite no footprints, fingerprints or eyewitnesses, doctors and police in Lincolnshire gathered the evidence to convict the country’s first killer nurse; the Angel of Death, Beverley Allitt.

From February to April 1991, 13 children mysteriously stopped breathing or suffered heart failure on Ward Four of Grantham Hospital. Four died.

Medics insisted it was a coincidence. Police had to decide if it was murder. If it was – who was responsible?

Lincolnshire Police believe they have their prime suspect linked to the mysterious collapses and deaths of babies in the hospital children’s ward. But an unsuccessful interview leaves them with more questions than answers. Can they uncover the truth and bring the country’s first killer nurse to justice?
