Love Island needs more ‘normal’ contestants…

More ordinary folk like you see on In For A Penny.

Season 9 contestant of Love Island Jessie Wynter has told instantcasinos.com that she would like to see more “everyday people” on Love Island following the conclusion of series 11 this week.

This series has seen several ‘normal’ contestants appear on the show, such as retail manager Jess White and mental health worker Mimii Ngulube, and Jessie has welcomed the decision to not overcrowd the villa with too many social media influencers.

Jessie said: “I think Love Island was in danger of becoming a bit repetitive. Changing up the cast this year so there weren’t as many social media personalities has helped as we want to see people from all different backgrounds and careers. It’s nice to see normal people with every day jobs looking for love and having a relationship with someone who they might not have ever met on the outside.”

Jessie also said the jury is still out on showing Love Island twice a year, and she much preferred the long build up to a new series.

“I do think sometimes less is more, and the anticipation and waiting for summer to watch Love Island again really builds it up. It’s just my personal opinion, and I know that probably sounds cheeky given I have been on twice, I’m probably in the minority as I know people love the show so much and want to see it on as often as possible but for me, I think less is more as it makes me feel more excited for the new series!”

Revealing she hardly ever sees anyone from her and Will’s series, Jessie said: “When the show is over you do want to spend time with your friends and family, and if you are lucky enough to find love like I did, you put everything in to your relationship so there isn’t really time to hang out with the friends you made in the villa all of the time. You can see there are some strong friendships that have formed in there this year, but I do wonder how many of them will stay close once the show is over.

“I only say this as we hardly see anyone from our series. It’s not like anyone fell out, and if we did see anyone we would always say hello, but it’s just finding the time to see people. It’s funny as we actually see people from other series more than we do our own! There is definitely a post-Love Island club where everyone seems to know each other.”
