On this Day 1975: The Royal Show

ATV Today cameras captured just some of the record 65,000 people at the Stoneleigh Showground who had visited to see 1975’s The Royal Show.

The event was held at Stoneleigh Showground from 1963 until 2009 when the site closed. It was noted at the time of the event coming to an end the glory days – as seen here in the seventies – had long passed and the economic global crisis of the late 2000s was a final blow. The organisers also noted The Royal Show had been in an attendance and financial decline for many years. The show made a loss of around £200,000 in 2008.
