On this Day 1962: Real life flying doctors

OTD, June 14th 1962

Lionel Hampden reported from the Cranmore Youth Club at Shirley where young people were being trained to become volunteers with the flying doctor service in Nigeria.

Lionel talks to Ken Pitcher of the Solihull Youth Council about the radios they will be using. He then chats with Mrs Duncan who was one of the organisers of the scheme with her husband Doctor Neil Duncan. They discuss their previous experience. Lionel also hears from volunteer Lesley Pollard. The report also shows a training session and examples of first aid and the two-way radios that were to be used in Africa.
