Vote for a couple to win a £15,000 wedding on S4C

The voting has opened to choose who will win a £15,000 wedding that will be filmed for S4C’s Priodas Pymtheg Mil programme.

Two couples have made the shortlist and you can vote online from wherever in the world by visiting the Priodas.Cymru website. The couples are Aled Johnson and Malin Gustavsson from Boncath, Pembrokeshire, and Teresa Thomas and Rutger Heerbout from Llanrug, Caernarfon.

Over the years the Priodas Pum Mil series has arranged 47 weddings with a spending budget of £5,000.

This time the amount has been tripled for a special programme that will be shown at Christmas. The budget will be used to fulfil the couple’s perfect day, with elements that just wouldn’t be possible without the financial boost.

The lucky couple will have the support of their families and friends to organise the big day, with the help of presenters Emma Walford and Trystan Ellis-Morris. Aled and Malin both work with children and also have two children of their own, Owain and Gwennan. Aled says:

“We got engaged in August 2015. The main reason that we haven’t gotten married is financial, especially since Malin’s family are from Sweden, it’s important that they can be part of the wedding whether it be in Sweden or in Wales.”

Teresa and Rutger run a pub in Llanrug near Caernarfon and would like to get married at Rutger’s hometown in the Netherlands. Teresa says:

“We had been talking on line for years, and we thought it was time we met, and that’s the best thing we’ve done. We’ve had a tough time, my dad died of cancer… and five weeks later I lost my son. I don’t know what I’d have done without Rutger. I love him and he’ll look after me forever.”

The voting will close at 9pm Friday 21st June.

Priodas Pymtheg Mil will be shown at Christmas on S4C and will be available to watch on S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer.
