On this Day 1980: Canoes in Colwick
OTD, April 24th, 1980…
John Swallow reported from Colwick in Nottingham where two men from a canoe factory – Frank Rayner and Paul Rayner – were going to teach Eskimos how to canoe.
In recent years the Eskimos had apparently lost the skill of canoeing – in 1979 the pair taught Eskimos how to build fibreglass canoes. In the report Frank and Paul demonstrate canoeing manoeuvres to John Swallow.
