A national printers’ strike halts the production of the Dudley Herald newspaper for the first time in 114 years and journalists appoint a town crier to announce the news stories of the day to the public in Dudley’s market place.
John Swallow spoke to journalist, Robin Wilson, about the idea which prompted them to approach the town crier so that their newspaper would reach the public in some form. John also talked to the town crier and we see him in action reading the news aloud and ringing his bell.
