Louis Emerick joins the cast of Hollyoaks

Louis Emerick has joined the cast of Hollyoaks as Vicky and Andre’s dad, Donny Clark.

Donny is set to make a surprise appearance at estranged daughter Vicky’s 18th birthday party this April, but he’s met with a frosty reception.

Billed by Lime Pictures as charismatic, confident and charming, Donny wants to do right by his kids and he comes to the village ready to build a relationship with Vicky.

Fans can catch Louis’ debut as Donny on E4, airing on Tuesday, April 9th. Alternatively, the episode will be available for streaming on Channel 4 a day earlier, on Monday, April 8th.

Louis Emerick said:

“Donny is coming back to see his son and it collides with his daughter’s birthday, which is very emotional as it’s the first time he has met her. It has equally been moving for me personally. I was there when Hollyoaks began. We sat with the Brookside and Hollyoaks crew and watched a screening of the first ever episode in 1995. It is so exciting to be back with this vibrant cast and crew, back on the set where it all began.”

Scott Drinkwell has been Vicky’s foster dad for over a year and was planning to adopt her for her 18th birthday. Donny’s arrival also comes shortly after new student Andre revealed to Vicky last November that he’s her secret half-brother.

Emerick gained recognition for his portrayal of Mick Johnson in the Channel 4 soap Brookside from 1989 to 2001. Throughout his time on the show, Emerick’s character, a taxi driver and shop owner, was involved in various intense storylines such as being stalked, assisting his mother-in-law with terminal cancer to die, and dealing with steroid abuse. His first episode as Donny on Hollyoaks airs 35 years to the day since his first episode as Mick.

Emerick’s other credits include G’Wed, BenidormDoctors, Last of the Summer Wine, and the gangster film Layer Cake.
