Peter Green is given a guided tour of the Oxford Botanical Gardens for ATV Today. When the report was made it was noted that the Oxford Botanical Gardens are used as a teaching garden for botany students from the University of Oxford, something that continues in 2024. In fact, Oxford Botanic Gardens are the UK’s oldest botanic gardens – they were founded in 1621.
Harcourt Arboretum was acquired by the University of Oxford in 1947 and has been part of Oxford Botanic Garden since 1963. It contains the finest collection of trees in Oxfordshire, including some of the world’s rarest species, set within 130 acres of historic Picturesque landscape.
Together the Oxford Botanic Garden and Arboretum are an incredible resource for research, education, conservation and inspiration for a new generation of botanists.
In the news report, Peter Green is shown a selection of rare plant species by the garden’s curator, Ken Burns.
