On this Day 1965: A blind craftsman from Bridgnorth

OTD, March 22nd, 1965…

Lionel Hampden reports about Archie Deans, a blind craftsman from Bridgnorth, who makes woven creels, fishing baskets, from willow.

Lionel finds Archie Deans in his workshop which is situated on Salop Street in the town making baskets. He talks about his willow weaving work and the business in Bridgnorth that he has run since 1928. Before that, he was a pupil at a blind school in Bristol and he also mentions that the Birmingham Blind Association helped him find premises.

Archie passed away in 1982 aged 76.
