Hollyoaks star Ross Adams quits Scott Drinkwell role

Ross Adams has quit his role as Scott Drinkwell in Hollyoaks after nine years.

The actor took to his Instagram page to share the news with his fans, expressing that it was a difficult choice to make.

“After nearly a decade, I have made the decision to leave Hollyoaks. I love the show; the wonderful cast and one of the most dedicated crews in the business – all of whom are having a pretty rough time at the moment. So, deciding not to sign another contract was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make.

“Sometimes though, you’ve just got to be brave – and now feels like the right time for me to try some other things that I’ve been super keen to do. I really hope you’ll all come with me for the ride!”

Adams will film his final scenes in May, and viewers can anticipate his character’s exit during the summer.

Adams has been a popular addition to the E4 saga, winning the award for Best Male Dramatic Performance at the British Soap Awards in 2018. It came after a powerful storyline that saw Scott’s struggles with depression result in a suicide attempt.

Scott’s other storylines include poisoning his aunt Diane, pretending to have HIV and being tricked into kidnapping Rose Lomax by Rose’s “mother” Tegan Lomax.

Scott has also entertained the village with his drag persona Anita Tinkle.

Last month, Channel 4 announced that from September episodes of Hollyoaks would be cut from five to three, with the loss of 135 jobs. Last week, it was reported that Jamie Lomas is to leave his role as Warren Fox in the soap.

Hollyoaks airs Monday-Friday at 7pm on E4 with first look episodes on Channel 4 streaming.
