Jamie Lomas to leave Warren Fox role in Hollyoaks

Jamie Lomas is reportedly leaving his role as Warren Fox in Hollyoaks.

The Sun reports that the actor has handed his notice in to bosses on the E4 saga and is set to leave later this year. He has played the role of Warren on-and-off since 2006

The 48-year-old made the decision to go after bosses announced that from September episodes would be cut from five to three, with the loss of 135 jobs.

A source said:

“Jamie has been at the centre of some of the soap’s biggest storylines and has been back in Hollyoaks now for nearly eight years which is a long time. It’s been a long stint which he has loved but with all the changes going on he felt the time was right to move on.

“He told bosses last week and they are already working on his exit storyline.

“The door will be left open and it is hoped he’ll be back again as Warren Fox on day.”

Lomas’ bad boy alter-ego is currently involved in a soap first – a bipaternal twin plot with Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) and Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood).

Mercedes had an affair with Warren whilst in a relationship with his friend Felix. She became pregnant with twins, and a DNA test confirmed that both men were the fathers, with each man being the biological father of one of the twins.

In addition to their mutual romantic attraction towards Mercedes, the former pals have also been in conflict regarding Felix’s alleged role in the tragic car accident that claimed the life of Warren’s daughter, Ella. However, it was actually Ste Hay who was responsible for the incident.

Hollyoaks airs Monday-Friday at 7pm on E4 with first look episodes on Channel 4 streaming.
