The Great! Network ‘get real’ with new channel

Narrative Entertainment, continues to expand its GREAT! Network, launching new free-to-air channel GREAT! Real later this month…

Offering a diverse range of content following on-call medics and police patrols to coastal rescue missions and airport operations, GREAT! Real showcases genuine drama and authentic stories centred around real people and events.

Content will include Heathrow: Britain’s Busiest Airport; Paddington Station 24/7; Island Medics; Emergency Rescue: Air, Land and Sea; and Coast Guard Alaska.

Launching on Freeview and Sky, GREAT! Real is the first channel in the GREAT! Network to showcase unscripted content. Last year the GREAT! Network grew its digital offerings, launching into the FAST space and offering on-demand service, the GREAT! Player, on the red button. The linear channels were also made available nationwide in July.

Steve Hornsey, Narrative Entertainment’s VP Movies & Entertainment:

“Narrative Entertainment is excited to invite even more new viewers to enjoy our growing GREAT! Network with the addition of GREAT! Real, our first channel dedicated to non-scripted storytelling.  With an array of observational series focusing on dramatic real-life events and human stories, GREAT! Real will take audiences to the heart of the action with an exciting, engaging and relatable content mix that perfectly complements our existing brands.”

The expansion follows a highly successful past year which saw the GREAT! Network’s SOCI up +29% year-on-year compared to -1% for the market1, as well as an exceedingly successful launch of the on-demand GREAT! Player app.  The addition of GREAT! Real will provide audiences with a wider variety of viewing options across the network; this will come as welcome news for viewers who now spend the longest time ever watching the GREAT! Network with an average of 1 hour 14 mins in the past year, the longest on record2.

Great! Real launches on March 20th.
