Elin Fflur:
“This competition is the pinnacle for S4C every year. It’s a highlight as we celebrate Welsh songs – and there’s no one better than us as a nation, when it comes to singing and composing. But what’s also great this year is that we’ll be at a new venue and we’ll also have a new trophy to present to the winner.”
You can hear more about the events being held across Wales to mark St David’s Day on S4C’s afternoon programme Prynhawn Da, whilst Heno will be joining a parade on Anglesey.
Katie Owen and Molly Palmer will be presenting a new programme on St. David’s Day called Colli dy Dafod, as they travel around the Valleys in their ice cream van. On their journey they will be talking to local people about their use of the Welsh language.
Katie and Molly are two Valleys girls who have rediscovered their confidence to speak Welsh. As teenagers they only really spoke Welsh in school, but now Katie and Molly are proud to use Welsh in their day-to-day life.
On Sunday March 3 Dechrau Canu Dechrau Canmol will come from St. Silyn’s Church in Wrexham. Lisa Gwilym will be in the city to celebrate St. David’s Day and meet some of the area’s inspiring people.
The popular tenor Trystan Llyr Griffiths will give a special performance of the song Gwinllan a Roddwyd (arranged by Caradog Roberts), and former Big Brother contestant Glyn Wise will be discussing his journey to becoming a priest.
