
George nervously prepares to go to his parents’ home for the first time in years to celebrate Eddie’s award win. When he, Elaine and the girls arrive, he’s stunned by Eddie’s apparent pride in him and the way he’s treated like a returning hero by his dad’s mates.
As the night goes on, Eddie shocks George further by making a heartfelt speech about him. George confides in Elaine that he might have misread Eddie’s behaviour and that maybe his dad did always love him.
However, as the party winds down, Gerard – one of Eddie’s friends – accidentally lets slip to George that the jury is going to love him. Confused, George presses him and Gerard explains that Eddie is facing trial for a racially motivated murder and needs George to be his character witness. George is devastated to realise he’s being manipulated by Eddie.
Meanwhile, Johnny helps a drunk Linda to her feet in the street. Back at The Vic, he quizzes the family to find out how things have got so bad, and Elaine reveals Dean is back.
Johnny rushes to confront Dean and is spotted by Ben, who follows him into Beales Eels. Ben has to drag Johnny away from Dean, and, with Callum they talk over a drink. Later, at closing time, Johnny punches Dean and warns him to leave Linda alone.
Elsewhere, keen to get closer to Kat, Nish issues a shock invitation.

Simon tells Nick he’s sorry about the car. Nick assures him it was an accident, but when Kevin lets slip that the car repairs were nothing to do with the brakes, Nick’s suspicions grow.
At school Hope finds Sam unconscious on the floor and yells for a teacher. Sam’s rushed to hospital, where Leanne tells the doctor that Sam was involved in a car accident.
Leanne is forced to admit to Nick that the brakes weren’t at fault, she lied to protect Simon as he had been drinking and was over the limit when he crashed. Nick reels. Awash with guilt, Simon decides to take responsibility.
Meanwhile, Bethany assures Daniel that she will never do anything to hurt him again and resolves to speak to Daisy about her article. Will they kiss and make up?
Bethany persuades Daisy to join her for a coffee in the hope they can bury the hatchet, but their conversation descends into a row.
Elsewhere, Rita and Mary are taken aback to learn that Bobby is Rob’s son. Feeling the heat, Bobby tells Carla he needs to know all about Tina, the girl his dad killed.
Also, Summer confides in Billy that she’s been offered a chance to study in America but she knows that now is not the right time, given Paul’s illness.
