Two more costumed celebs depart The Masked Singer

Tonight, Sir Lenny Henry joined the panel, as viewers saw two celebrities unmasked on ITV.

Air Fryer, Eiffel Tower, Piranha, Maypole, Cricket, Bigfoot, and Dippy Egg took the stage but it was Dippy Egg who was the first to be unmasked and revealed to be radio and TV presenter Nicky Campbell who presented Long Lost Family alongside panellist Davina McCall.

The former Wheel of Fortune host had stumped the panel for weeks, and once revealed an emotional Davina joined Nicky on stage when he was finally unmasked.

Nicky Campbell:

“Being in the show is incredible. I have not got a clue who anyone else is. You never see anything because literally you’ve got masks on all the time, so you can’t see a thing.  The worst thing about being in the costume is when the lid goes on the top of Dippy Egg, and all of a sudden, it’s like you’re in a deep-sea diving suit!

“I love the show. We watched it at home with my girls. I can kind of sing so when the opportunity came up, I thought, “Yeah, absolutely. Incredible.” And it was.  It’s tough in here with the old lid on, but you get used to it after about four shows!

Davina said, “This is the best surprise, better than any birthday.  I love this man!  Nicky’s a friend, we’ve been working together for thirteen years and I can not believe I didn’t recognise your voice, I didn’t recognise your singing voice. I know your singing voice.   This is insane!”

Next up it was Maypole who was revealed to be Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton. Rita said, “Hearing your voice and tone of course it’s you!”

Melody Thornton:

“I think that the thing about this show is that it’s all positive. You actually just get to have fun, and it’s been lovely bringing this character to life!

What I’ve enjoyed most is that Maypole is so positive. She’s cheering for everybody else. I wrote a whole biography for my character.  She’s not far off a female Pinocchio. So, there’s this part of her that wants to be loved and she’s draped in all of these colours. I just wanted to see her go far.”

Next week Lorraine Kelly returns as the special guest panellist joining Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan.
