Ahead of the highly anticipated Olympic Games in Paris this year, the GB Open in the Boxing World Cup is a crucial warm-up event, as fighters who perform well have a greater shot at being selected for Olympic qualifiers. More than 20 boxers from the GB squad will be facing off this week, each hoping they can make it to the biggest stage this summer.
The World Boxing Cup is a brand-new competition, and the GB Open is its first event. Boxers will collect ranking points and victories ahead of the Finals event at the end of the year, where they will compete for the first ever World Boxing Trophy.
Taking place at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield this week, boxing fans can watch bouts on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website, the GB Open began on Wednesday 17 January and ends on Saturday 20 January.
