Jane McDonald heads to Gran Canaria with Channel 5

Best on the Box choice for Friday, January 12th…

In the second episode of her latest Channel 5 series Jane continues on her island-hopping odyssey, sailing across the Atlantic to Gran Canaria.

After her ninety-minute ferry, Jane drops her bags at her all-inclusive hotel, spies her beautiful view of the sea and sand and is inspired to head straight out to explore the magnificent Maspalomas sand dunes. Next, she sets off to explore the pretty village of Firgas in the quieter north of the island. Famous for its mosaics, spring water and waterfall running through the centre of the village, Jane wanders the streets and enjoys local tapas before cooling off with a swim in a natural sea water swimming pool at the edge of the Atlantic.

Wanting to discover more of the island, Jane hires a jet ski and has a brilliant time exploring the coast from the sea before going to view the incredible works of some of the local sand artists – and is surprised to find herself sculpted in sand!

Of course, no visit to Gran Canaria would be complete without a big night out, and Jane is far from disappointed when she’s entertained at one of the island’s famous drag queen bars before finishing this leg of her travels with a round of golf – if she’s ever able to get out of the bunker!
