The Brothers gets a TV rerun

The saga was a big audience draw for the BBC in the seventies.

The series hasn’t been seen on television since its last rescreening on UK Gold many years ago but tonight it gets another outing courtesy of Talking Pictures TV, which specialises in airing classic movies and television series.

First broadcast on 10th March 1972 and running for seven series, The Brothers stars Jean Anderson (Tenko), Glyn Owen (Howard’s Way) and Richard Easton (GM Presents), with the first episode setting the scene.

Robert Hammond has died and his three sons, Edward, Brian and David have inherited the family trucking company, now each one of them will try to run the business in their own way.

The Brothers went on to star the likes of Colin Baker (Doctor Who), Kate O’Mara (Dynasty), Gabrielle Drake (Crossroads), Jonathan Newth (Emmerdale), Mike Pratt (Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)), Clive Swift (Keeping Up Appearances), Michael Sheard (Grange Hill), Rula Lenska (Coronation Street) and many more…

The Brothers begins tonight at 8pm on Talking Pictures TV
