Shantay you stay….
Hollyoaks is no stranger to the world of drag, having introduced their resident drag queen Anita Tinkle, the performing alter ego to Ross Adams’ character Scott Drinkwell, back in 2020.
Ross Adams:
“I’m a huge fan of Drag Race and Tia Kofi was amazing in season 2 so I was so excited when I met her for the first time. It was like half 6 in the morning, we were both in makeup first because obviously it takes a lot of time to look that cheap.
“What I thought was really lovely was that Tia is a true Hollyoaks fan. She was so much fun to work with and her lines I found hilarious – she is so lovely in real life but her character is really mean! Her outfit as well is just unreal, she’s dressed as a fabulous glamourous elf, and her pigtails were so cute, a little bit of Britney going on but pink.”
The winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season four, Danny Beard featured in two episodes of Hollyoaks earlier this year with scenes in Brighton and the more usual surroundings. Danny Beard also performed a song on The Love Boat.
This Christmas, the Channel 4 soap will be welcoming another drag icon to the village as Tia Kofi, best known for appearing in season two of UK’s Drag Race sparkles into the action. Tia will be playing herself, albeit a more ruthless version, as she tries to upstage Anita Tinkle at the fairy parade…
Talking about filming at Hollyoaks, Tia said:
“I had a wonderful time on set filming Hollyoaks. Considering the fact that I ran a Hollyoaks fan club at school, this was a really surreal moment for me. I’m looking forward to them writing me in as a semi-regular cast member, ideally a new McQueen.”
You can catch Tia on Hollyoaks by streaming first on Channel 4 on Tuesday 19th December or watch live on E4 at 7pm on Wednesday 20th December.
