BBC reveal trailer for second series of The Tourist

A brand-new trailer and pictures have been released today for the second series of The Tourist.

Returning in the latest episodes are Jamie Dornan and Danielle Macdonald while it also brings a raft of new characters including Niamh Cassidy and the McDonnell family – Donal (Diarmaid Murtagh), Orla (Nessa Matthews), Fergal (Mark McKenna) and Frank (Francis Magee).

Set against the striking backdrop of Ireland, the upcoming series sees Elliot and Helen dragged into a longstanding feud and faced with the consequences of his past actions. After Elliot quickly goes missing, Helen seeks the help of Detective Ruairi Slater (Conor MacNeil), before secrets of Elliot’s past are later uncovered.

The Tourist see the return of Danielle Macdonald.

Series one launched with 11.4 million viewers in the UK and holds the title as the UK’s most-watched drama of 2022 across all platforms. Internationally, sales for the first series spanned five continents, with the show seen from South Korea to Scandinavia and was crowned the winner of 3 Golden Nymph Awards at the Monte Carlo Television Festival including Best Series, the festival’s highest accolade.

The six-part thriller is created and written by Harry and Jack Williams and produced by the award-winning Two Brothers Pictures. The Tourist returns on Monday 1st January 2024 on BBC One and iPlayer.  The full series will be available on BBC iPlayer from 6am, ahead of episode one airing at 9pm on BBC One.
