Annabel Croft eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing

This weekend, Annabel Croft became the tenth celebrity to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing.

The former professional tennis player won’t be in next week’s grand final after she lost to soap star Bobby Brazier in the final dance-off of the series.

When the viewer votes and judges’ scores were combined, Annabel and her professional partner Johannes Radebe found themselves in the bottom two alongside Bobby and his partner Dianne Buswell. Both couples performed their favourite routine of the night again before the judges decided who they would like to keep in the competition.

Bobby and Diane performed their Quickstep to Mack the Knife by Bobby Darin. Then, Annabel and Johannes performed their Viennese Waltz to Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want by Slow Moving Millie.

Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Annabel and Johannes noting that he had seen an improvement in their dance.

Motsi Mabuse chose to save Bobby and Dianne putting her decision down to a “slight hesitation” she had discerned in Annabel’s routine. Similarly Anton Du Beke chose to save Bobby and Dianne as a pivoting section “wasn’t as clean as I would have liked” in the other routine.

Head judge Shirley Ballas was given the casting vote. She chose to save Bobby and Dianne due to a “tiny mistake” within Annabel and Johannes’ routine.

When asked by [host] Tess Daly about her time on the show, Annabel said:

“It’s been the most life changing and extraordinary experience of my life. Johannes, you have been absolutely extraordinary. You have given me a reason to get out of bed and come and dance with you, distract me and to heal me. I can’t thank you enough for that. You have been so patient, so caring and so loving. You are an unbelievably special human being. I simply adore you. Thank you so much!”

Johannes added: “I’d like to say thank you. Thank you for making the decision to come here. My life is richer with you in it. I hope we dance long after this has ended.”

The last results show of 2023 featured a beautiful group number from the Strictly professionals and a performance from Take That with their new single This Life.

The remaining three couples will take to the dancefloor for the final time in next week’s grand final on Saturday 16th December at 7pm, on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
