On this Day 1960: Christmas auditions for ‘Lunch Box’

OTD, December 7th, 1960…

Noele Gordon was in the continuity studio at the Aston studios of ATV Midlands where she is seen auditioning a group of boys to find one to appear in the Christmas edition of her daytime Lunch Box programme.

The boy chosen to appear on the programme was Alfred Bills from Stourbridge. The search was reported in local newspapers as a hunt for the ‘Jackie Coogan of the Midlands’ to appear in the Christmas edition of the live weekday magazine and entertainment programme.
