With this winter’s lineup all but confirmed by ITV, William Hill makes Sam Thompson the early favourite to win this year’s edition of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps:
“Unlike the grub they’ll be sinking their teeth into, this year’s I’m A Celebrity line up is shaping up to be one of the tastiest in recent memory, with Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson our early market favourite to win the Jungle Crown in December. Thompson is 3/1 to triumph in the 23rd edition of the ITV show alongside Josie Gibson, placing him ahead of Frankie Dettori (5/1) and Fred Sirieix (6/1) in the outright winner market.”
The lineup revealed last evening comprises of a few well-known personalities and some Z-list space fillers, although attaching the word ‘celebrity’ to most of them is a bit of a stretch this year. Nigel Farage, the former politician turned right-wing news host had a moment of fame this year when he didn’t want to accept a measly normal bank account like most of us have, and went all out on a media rant when a posh bank decided they didn’t want to give him a posh account anymore. This none story became a bit of a story. But it does not make Farage a celeb.
Also heading down under the tabloid papers note is Jamie Lynn Spears. Sister of Britney. Enough said. Josie Gibson, a presenter on This Morning. Also, jockey Frankie Dettori who is possibly the closest to a celebrity in the names listed this year. After 35 years of horse racing, Frankie retired last year. ITV and Channel 4 presenter Fred Sirieix is noted as switching ‘first dates’ for ‘kangaroo bollocks’.
Hollyoaks regular Nick Pickard will be pleased to appear on a show with ratings following the long-running soap being shunted to E4 and streaming by Channel 4 earlier this year, following abysmal main channel ratings. Former EastEnders performer Danielle Harold is certainly a star of soap opera. Danielle gained much praise for her role as Lola in the Beeb soap. The award-winning actress has a loyal following of fans.
Sam was missing from his weekly podcast with pal Pete Wicks this week, leading to speculation he’s gone down under
Sam Thompson of Made in Chelsea is the bookie’s current favourite. Sam is another with a big following of fans while the ‘modern celeb’ aka a ‘social media influencer’ is represented by Nella Rose. Former JLS star Marvin Humes who is also a popular BBC presenter is thrown into the star mix along with former critic of the I’m A Celeb format Grace Dent who is best known for Masterchef.
With heavy speculation the Made in Chelsea star will be joining the cast down under, Sam Thompson is the joint 3/1 frontrunner to be crowned King of the Jungle this year alongside Josie Gibson, with legendary jockey Frankie Dettori (5/1) rounding up the top three.
Other notable selections include former heavyweight boxer Tony Bellew at 14/1, with former UKIP leader Nigel Farage deemed unlikely to win over the support of the British public, trading at the same price.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps:
“ITV have certainly pulled no punches with their selection for this winter’s series, with former heavyweight boxer Tony Bellew a 14/1 shot and the controversial Nigel Farage similarly priced to uncharacteristically receive support on foreign soil.”
