Detective Madden offers a strong threat to Cash in Home and Away

This week in Summer Bay…

MONDAY

Theo prepares for his return to the mechanics course at TAFE, but Justin is not convinced by any of the candidates to take the role of his supervisor. In fact, Justin’s determined to be reinstated himself so that he can offer Theo personal guidance. While Leah and Theo are sceptical, Justin acts fast. He wins over Theo’s tutor and soon receives the confirmation call. Already, Justin has the curriculum and is eager to go through it. However, Leah clocks Theo’s hesitance. When she confronts him about it, he is agitated. Theo claims everything is fine, and Leah needs to drop it. But Leah knows better than to not trust her gut.

Rose and Xander are yet to see eye to eye about her relationship with Samuel, Rose’s biological father. Xander feels that Rose’s indecision continues to hurt the people around her, and Mali’s continued interference is not warranted. Xander is curt. He’s done discussing it with Mali, who arrives to apologise to Rose. She accepts but encourages him to stay out of the siblings’ feud. In the calm after the storm, Rose and Xander finally start to repair. She’s not sure how she feels about the situation, but she would like to try and explain if he’s willing to listen.

The team building event for the Surf Club committee is fast approaching, and John is swindling everything he can from Mackenzie. He coaxes Salt into offering some additional friendly competitions and prizes for the winners. But despite her generosity in support of the club, Mackenzie draws the line on any of the top-shelf alcohol, shutting John down before he can even suggest it. Xander is hosting the event, but his family problems have John questioning if he’s up to the task. Mackenzie however is reassuring. Motivating staff is her speciality. Can she deliver for John’s big night?

TUESDAY

John nurses a hangover from the team bonding cocktail night. Xander joins him but is far from sympathetic. Remember how John broke that expensive bottle of whiskey last night, and said he’ll deal with it tomorrow? Well, now it’s tomorrow. But John delivers every excuse to avoid a confession. Meanwhile, Mackenzie notices immediately there’s a bottle of whiskey unaccounted for. Xander decides not to lie for John any longer, forcing John to confess. The details of which prove that Xander was letting patrons help themselves behind the bar, and now Mackenzie’s trust in him is broken. Now Mackenzie will have to postpone her trip. Even though John pays up the full amount – no discount! – it may not be enough to change Mackenzie’s mind.

Justin is prepping Theo’s TAFE curriculum, but Leah intervenes to have a private word with her nephew. She and Justin are concerned that Theo isn’t being honest with himself. Despite his determination to convince them that he’s ready to re-take the course, it seems to them that he’s settling. He’s too young and talented to give up on his dreams. He admits, of course he wanted the band to take the world by storm. But it didn’t happen, and now he’s ready for plan B. He explains that if you don’t have a dream, you don’t get disappointed.

Roo is making progress with her recovery, thanks to the help of Doctor Bree and the support of Alf. Marilyn is also primed to fuss over her, offering cakes and an arm to walk with, but she is coldly rejected. The tension is so thick, that even Alf is forced to admit that Marilyn is on thin ice with Roo. While Roo is troubled with uncertainty of when she will be able to go home, Marilyn and Alf determine that the source of Roo’s frustration is due to Marilyn not visiting her. But when she shows up to clear the air, Roo is the one who is clear – her condition is all Marilyn’s fault.

WEDNESDAY

Remi and Eden stew over Kirby’s solo career press release. Attempting to escape from their social media spiral, Remi insists it’s time for them to finally write some songs. But their levels of procrastination reach new limits, and all too quickly it’s decided that they should be writing a tequila-song. An unwelcome hangover is soothed for Eden when she picks up her lyrics book and finds momentum through her anger at Kirby. Remi immediately sees great potential in these lyrics, but Eden pulls back, only seeing how much this song fuelled by resentment could be deeply hurtful for her once good friend, Kirby.

Marilyn struggles mending the wound in her friendship with Roo. But not only does Roo refuse to hear her apology, she insists that her hospital guest Marilyn leave immediately. They’ve been friends for a long time, but things change. Roo has decided she needs a permanent break from Marilyn. In contrast, Roo welcomes a visit from Alf and Mali – to whom she feels she owes her life. Whilst she shows her gratitude for his heroism, in truth, Roo is reminded how much Mali, John, and everyone else is healed and moving on with their lives, whilst she sits in her hospital bed, staring toward a long road to recovery.

Rose has returned from seeing her mother, and confronting her about her biological father, Samuel. After a night in with Bree, she debriefs with Mali, explaining how difficult the situation was. Rose understands why her mother had to walk away from Samuel. She was young, scared and confused. And Mali’s compassion for the situation guides her to decide she’s going to visit Samuel again, and this time, she would like to invite Mali along.

THURSDAY

Felicity’s driving suspension is over, and while she’s excited about her future, so is Tane. In fact, his New Zealand visit had him notice how quickly his baby cousins are growing up, and this motivates him to sit Felicity down for a serious conversation. But all Felicity sees is red flags. She doesn’t want kids, and she doesn’t want to have this conversation. Telling Tane she’s needed at work, she actually sidesteps to crash Eden and Remi’s writing retreat.

Eden and Remi are at a creative impasse. They’re biggest hope to keep the band alive is a song fuelled by resentment for Kirby, which would break her should she ever hear it. When Felicity admits she only came here to hide from Tane and their conversation about having children, Remi calls it off. It’s time all of them stopped running and faced reality. Upon returning it is not long before Felicity runs straight into Tane, who has been searching for her. He finally has the chance to explain that the big talk he wanted to have was not about babies at all…it was about the two of them moving to New Zealand.

Kirby is ecstatic about the enormous surfboard gift sitting in her living room, and Forrest comments that she may be distanced from Remi and Eden, but she clearly has a lot of friends. But Kirby is still tender, they were more like family to her. When she bumps into them later at Salt, Kirby is eager to start repairing. But the conversation is icy, and the damage is deep. Kirby returns to Forrest, head in the game over her solo launch plans, and Eden returns with vengeance to writing the song of Kirby’s betrayal.

Cash updates Harper after having spoken with Anti-Corruption. They cannot meet with him until next week. Harper presses for more urgency on the matter, but Cash is already doing everything he can. They have to hold tight. But this proves difficult as Irene arrives home early. Harper races to hide the fact that she’s been harbouring a fugitive under Irene’s roof. Meanwhile, Detective Madden turns up on Cash’s doorstep for a confrontation, but the upper hand shifts quickly between them. Next, Madden’s at Irene’s front door, determined to take Harper into the station, but Irene is not easily brushed aside. He needs to either get a warrant or get out. Now that she’s rid of their Madden problem, Irene bursts open Harper’s door to reveal Dana, and the girls better start talking.

FRIDAY

Kirby’s spirited solo launch preparation is tarnished by her run-in with Remi and Eden, and now she feels it’s even more important that everything run perfectly. Forrest has already made plans for the album photo shoot, and she convinces him to let her share her ideas with the label. But Kirby’s suggestions are not approved, and the machine that she is now a part of will continue without her input. Forrest insists that she needs to trust him, but Kirby does not find this simple. She discloses to Justin that the label’s vision is very different to her own. She’s going to have to shift her thinking in order to make this arrangement work.

Irene is interrogating Harper and her stowaway sister, Dana. Cash vouches for them, but he also confirms that if Irene continues to harbour Dana, then she’s breaking the law. However, if she chooses to turn Dana over to the authorities, Dana will be sent to prison for something she didn’t do. Irene returns to her new roommates, affirming that her house has always been a refuge for those in need, and she doesn’t want that to change. Even if it means breaking the law.

Tane continues his pitch to Felicity for them to buy a plot of land in New Zealand. He has the whole thing lined up. There’s a great patch of land available now, it’s within their price range, and it’s a meaningful decision for him, being the perfect location. Felicity takes the night to consider and decides that it has been Tane’s connection to place that has changed her own definition of home. Home for her now is wherever he is, and if that’s New Zealand, then she can see herself living there.

Detective Madden schemes with Fletcher, another corrupt cop who has been observing Cash. They eventually get the warrant they needed, and barge into Irene’s house to place Harper under arrest. But Dana won’t let that happen to her sister and chooses to reveal herself. She’s the one they really want, and the corrupt officers waste no time taking Dana in. When Harper, Irene and Cash all meet at the station to intercept, they’re floored – Detective Madden, Fletcher, and Dana never arrived. Where have they taken Dana?
