A+E Networks EMEA’s streaming services Crime+Investigation Play and HISTORY Play launch on YouTube Primetime Channels today in the UK.
Julie Mitchelmore, VP Digital at A+E Networks EMEA:
‘’A+E Networks EMEA’s Crime + Investigation Play and HISTORY Play have been strategic partners to YouTube’s rollout of its premium paid channels service in Europe. This UK launch further cements our partnership and consolidates our strategic domestic and international expansion’.
The streaming services join Primetime Channels as part of the launch line-up after a successful debut in Germany in June. Crime+Investigation Play goes behind the headlines of some of the most infamous crimes, opening the door to real-life crime scenes and forensics labs, police archives, and courtrooms to piece together the clues, examine the evidence, and uncover the truth. At launch, Crime + Investigation Play will offer subscribers the best of A+E Networks EMEA’s true crime content, including hit series Meet Marry Murder, Robbie Coltrane’s Critical Evidence, and #TextMeWhenYouGetHome available from launch.
More programming highlights include the brand new The Secrets of Penthouse, which follows the rise and fall of Bob Guccione, who made millions with Penthouse magazine by pushing the world of adult entertainment further than ever before, and the second season of Secrets of Playboy, which examines how the Playboy experience continued to affect women’s lives long after they finished posing for the magazine.
HISTORY Play offers award-winning documentaries and factual series, including The Curse of Oak Island, Curse of Skinwalker Ranch, History’s Greatest Mysteries with Laurence Fishburne, and The UnXplained with William Shatner. From launch, YouTube Primetime Channels subscribers will enjoy ground-breaking stories and characters, like Rick and Marty Lagina, on their mission of a lifetime to seek out Captain William Kidd’s treasure on Oak Island, Nova Scotia; Laurence Fishburne exploring some of history’s most perplexing and enduring mysteries, and William Shatner going boldly where no one has gone before in his investigation into all things UnXplained.
Richard Lewis, Director of Media, Sport and Health Partnerships, YouTube, UK & Ireland: “This launch demonstrates that YouTube and the media industry can achieve great things when we work together. By partnering with A+E Networks EMEA, we will be able to bring value not only to their existing YouTube viewers but also drive additional revenue to their business”.
YouTube Primetime Channels offer subscribers the opportunity to experience subscription-based premium TV and movie content, both linear and on-demand, from a variety of well-known partners directly in one place, where they are often searched for and discovered. Customers can rely on YouTube’s familiar design and ease of use instead of dealing with different offerings.
After the US launch in November 2022 and Germany in June 2023, the UK is the third country to introduce YouTube Primetime Channels.
