Cash has concerns in Home and Away
This week in Summer Bay…
MONDAY
Harper rails at Dana after she returns from the beach – has she forgotten there’s a warrant out for her arrest?! Dana’s sick of having to hide out at Irene’s and feels like it’s going on forever. Cash meets Madden at work and addresses some of his concerns around Dana’s case, but has he inadvertently appeared too invested in a case he wasn’t assigned to? Madden wastes no time after their meeting to give the order – “Get me everything you can on Senior Constable Cash Newman”.
Eden and Felicity discuss the bombshell that her attacker wants to meet her. Eden thinks he’s delusional if he wants forgiveness, but Felicity appears to take pause – getting that phone call brought a lot of stuff back up. They tell Cash, who’s familiar with the Restorative Justice program, and in stark contrast to Eden, he thinks it could help his sister. When Felicity admits she isn’t sure what to do, Cash offers to connect her with a social worker, and soon he’s on the phone to Harper.
Harper gives Felicity a sympathetic ear and explains how the program works – it can be cathartic, and Harper’s seen it work for victims. But the program isn’t for everyone – “It’s a lot to get your head around”, she warns Felicity. After their chat, Cash updates Harper on the Dana case – did she know about the eyewitness who places Dana at the hospital? Cash urges Harper, he really needs to speak to Dana. Knowing she is harbouring her sister illegally, Harper denies having spoken to her. After a thinly veiled threat from Madden later, Cash turns up at Irene’s, where he’s shocked to find both sisters together. He’s stunned – “Care to explain?”
TUESDAY
Cash rails at Harper after discovering Dana at Irene’s – now he’s compromised, and so is Irene. They could all end up in jail! Harper reasons that Dana is innocent, that should be all that matters. Cash however is resolute – there’s a warrant out for Dana’s arrest, he’s taking her in. The girls plead with Cash – can’t he see he’s throwing Dana to the wolves?! But it’s only when Cash gets Dana alone and she opens up over her previous drug charge that he has a change of heart. He does believe that Dana is innocent, and Madden’s behaviour has raised some red flags as well. Cash is in on the heist.
The members of Lyrik continue to find their feet without Kirby. While Bree urges Remi to at least speak to his old friend, Theo stands by his decision to quit music for good. After all, he’s been doing this less than a year – maybe it wasn’t meant to be. But Justin hates to see Theo giving up on his passion, and soon has a plan to revive Theo’s love of music. To Theo’s surprise, he winds up at a business dinner with Justin, and Forrest! Justin wants Theo to be Forrest’s latest solo signing, but there’s a twist – Justin wants in on the deal.
Seeing Remi continue to struggle with Kirby’s departure from Lyrik, Bree makes her partner an offer – she’ll take over the household costs, at least until the band gets back on their feet. How are he and Eden going to pay rent otherwise, with both out of work? Remi appreciates the gesture but rejects the offer – he’s not going to take Bree’s money. Later, Bree confronts him – the “proud male routine” is insulting and kind of sexist. She wants to help, will she let him? Remi relents and accepts the offer, but only temporarily, and he wants to take her out to dinner as a way to say thanks. The loved-up couple head to Salt to celebrate, only to be met with the sight of Justin and Theo schmoozing with Forrest. Is Lyrik losing another member?
WEDNESDAY
At Justin’s soft pitch for Theo at Salt, Forrest is impressed. He wants to hear Theo play, and tonight. Forrest comes back to the Morgan house for a beer, where Theo sings his and Kirby’s song ‘Someone Like You’ (with Forrest’s permission – of course!). Leah privately confides in Justin though – is it a good idea to have organised this without warning the remaining members of Lyrik?
When Remi and Bree run into Theo the next morning, Remi has little patience for his bandmate and winds up throwing a punch at Theo. “Walk away, Remi” is a horrified Bree’s advice. When she, Justin, and Leah fuss over Theo later, she admits the reason Remi may have hit Theo – they had seen him having dinner with Forrest. For Theo though, a split lip doesn’t negate opportunity, and Forrest swings by the Morgan house with news that delights Justin: He wants to sign Theo. For Bree however, witnessing Remi’s temper brings back bad memories of her abusive ex. “That’s not the man I want to be with” she tells a guilty Remi.
Later, Remi and Theo meet up so that Remi can apologise – he was way out of line. To Remi’s surprise, Theo is more than gracious – not only does he accept his bandmate’s apology, but he turned down the solo contract. It was Justin’s idea, anyway, and Theo still believes in Lyrik. Remi is overjoyed to hear this. When he’s alone with Bree later, he opens up about the altercation. He hates that he was that person to Theo, and he hates that he was that person in front of Bree. Can she move past it?
Mali has noticed that Rose didn’t get a lot of sleep, and she admits the truth – she still has Samuel on her mind. Mali encourages his girlfriend to act – she can’t keep going on like this, and Rose knows he’s right. She’s grateful for his support, but later tells Mali she doesn’t want to see Samuel. Instead, she’s written him a letter. If Samuel doesn’t want to see her, he can just ignore it. Later, it’s a big step for Rose when she drops off the letter at Samuel’s. And it seems it may have been the first of many when Rose received a phone call later on – “It’s Samuel”.
THURSDAY
Rose has let Samuel’s call go to voicemail and is rocked when listening to the message back – Samuel wants to meet her, and he’s around today. “This is fast” she confides in Mali, but ultimately, she has to do it. Mali offers to support her, but Rose knows she needs to go this one alone. Face to face with Samuel Edwards, Rose has questions. Foremost, why hasn’t Samuel ever been a part of her life? He counters – Samuel had no idea Yvette was pregnant, and he would have supported her. As they talk, Samuel produces a family bible, and Rose is touched when he invites her to add her name to the list of generations. “You’re officially part of the family” he tells her.
Felicity is overcome with emotion when she receives an update on the Restorative Justice program – the facilitator has recommended that a meeting with her attacker can go ahead. Felicity is torn, and Eden, in spite of her own reservations, is a steadfast support. “It’s entirely your decision” she tells her friend. Mulling over the mammoth choice ahead of her, Felicity wants to know what her friends would do in her shoes. Eden wouldn’t see him, she says, but Mackenzie would. She’d want to look him in the eye when she tells him what a waste of space he is. The next morning, Felicity has clarity – she has to see her attacker so she can fill in the blanks. She’s doing this.
Alf is in high spirits after returning to the Bay with his brand-new hearing aids. He even smiles through a Surf Club committee meeting with John Palmer. Marilyn is buoyed to see Mr Stewart doing so well, but John is suspicious – his hearing aids must not be working. Marilyn protests that his hearing seems fine until John questions her – “Can you remember the last time Alf Stewart agreed with me?”
FRIDAY
Felicity has a question for Cash – Where is the footage that her attacker used to blackmail her? And has he seen it now? Cash is quick to reassure her – of course he hasn’t watched it, but what is this about? Felicity believes she may get the answers she needs from watching the footage. And if she can, then that way she doesn’t need to meet her attacker. But Cash is firm – he’s seen the footage of the other women and he can’t let Felicity go through watching it. Felicity however insists, and Cash knows she has a right to the footage. They head to the station, where Cash leaves Felicity alone to review the footage, but Felicity can’t go through with it. Unable to get answers from the footage, is Restorative Justice the last avenue for Felicity to get closure?
Marilyn and Leah wax lyrical to John about Alf’s great mood – Marilyn says he’s a changed man! – but John remains suspicious after yesterday’s committee meeting. Later at the Diner, John puts Alf to the test, grilling him about the meeting the night before, and Leah agrees with him that something’s strange. With Marilyn and John are too scared to tell Alf that his hearing aids aren’t working, Leah agrees to speak to him. She broaches the subject with Alf but doesn’t turn up any answers, but when Alf overhears her and Marilyn talking about him, they’re forced to confront him. Alf cheekily admits the truth – he’s been turning his hearing aids off when John speaks. Palmer’s a lot better on mute!
Mackenzie is suspicious when she finds Xander at work when he isn’t rostered, and Xander insists he’s happy to be there – she should take the day off. When Mackenzie presses further, Xander admits the truth – he’s not avoiding Rose as Mac had assumed. He’s avoiding Kirby! She and Bree have swapped houses, and Xander is missing Bree’s quiet, clean demeanour. It’s in stark contrast to Kirby’s messy, noisy way of life. Mackenzie encourages him – he should talk to Kirby, and sends him home in the interim with the offer to crash at hers if Kirby becomes too much to bear.
